Tips for QSR's to Go Green
Here's a short article I found -- it just gives a few tips on what quick service restaurants can do to save on wastes and be more eco-friendly. They give a couple suggestions that are very easy, most people just dont think about them. For example, ask customers if they want utensils -- instead of just shoving a bunch of them into the bag. I know for myself, a lot of the time I just throw them away if I dont need them. Also, the napkin dispensers that only dispense one at a time is a good idea. My mom is the biggest example of this -- if the napkins are just on the counter in a pile, she'll grab like 50?! We clearly dont use that many so a lot of them go to waste. Little things like these dont seem big, but when you add it all up for every single person that comes into a QSR, it'll make a huge difference.

Yeah I completely agree. There are definitely small (and CHEAP) things that every restaurant can be doing that can help them become even just a little more eco-friendly. I know exactly what you mean about the napkin thing-I know so many people who will grab a ton! And also the plastic utelsils can also be another way because really how many people actually use them? I'm sure most people bring their take-out home and throw them out along with the bag. My roommate and I got food one morning at OVs and they literally gave us 15 packets of ketchup, I mean that's just a little excessive!
ReplyDeleteI really agree with this article as well, because people do waste a lot of food, and the fast food restaurants don't help the issue by giving us tons of extra napkins and utensils that we don't need. More people need to just take what they need and not waste all this stuff. The restaurants also need to be more cautious of how much they are giving out.
ReplyDeleteGood to show people there are ways to go green and not spend a ton of money. It's the small things that really do add up. A lot of people don't see that, they just see that it is costly so they are afraid. Hopefully more people will see that it is so beneficial to small things to help change.
